Running a Workshop
How to create a workshop, share the join code, pin modules, and follow along with your class.
Workshops let you run Prompt Lab as a whole-class activity — with a shared session code, a pinned module everyone sees, and a live dashboard showing who's done what.
Creating a workshop
- Sign in with an Instructor account (choose "Instructor / Teacher" when registering).
- Click your name in the top-right → 🎓 Dashboard.
- Click Create workshop and give it a name (e.g. "Period 3 – Prompt Lab").
- A 6-character join code is generated automatically.
Students joining
- Students click their name → 🏫 Join workshop.
- They type the 6-character code you give them.
- They're added to your workshop roster immediately.
Pinning a module
From your Dashboard, click Pin module next to any workshop. A dropdown appears with all 13 modules. When a module is pinned:
- A blue 📌 banner appears at the top of every student's screen with a direct link
- The banner updates in real time — no page refresh needed
- Unpin it when you're ready to move on
The instructor dashboard
Your dashboard shows:
- All your active workshops with member counts
- Each student's progress (modules completed, quizzes done, playground runs)
- Who's online (approximate — based on recent activity)
Closing a workshop
Click Close workshop to archive it. The join code becomes inactive, but student progress is preserved.
Classroom tips
- Start with Module 1 (Introduction to Prompt Engineering) as a whole-class read-along
- Use the Playground for live demonstrations — project your screen and let students type prompts
- Set a 10-minute timer for quiz challenges — students compete for perfect scores
- Use the Challenges page for group activities — no single right answer encourages discussion
